Frequent Flyer fee chart for various airlines
The Wall Street Journal blog post provides a very useful link to a chart of various fees imposed by different airlines for booking frequent flyer fees. The chart was compiled jointly by SmarterTravel, Airwatchdog and FrequentFlier. Fee listed include award ticket fee, booking fee, mileage redeposit and reactivation fees.

We frequently fly United and Continental airlines and was surprised to see a whole bunch of fee that these and other airliners have started imposing. That's why, these days I always use credit cards that pay back cash rather than frequent flier miles. After going through the hassle of getting a ticket, don't want to spend more bucks paying for some of the additional fees listed in the chart.

One of the readers' comment to the the Wall Street Journal blog post aptly sums up my feelings about the airlines credit cards:

As you said, the notion of “free” doesn’t apply anymore. Soon the airlines will charge us for fresh air to breathe in their flights !! I have reduced my usage of the mileage-bonus cards since I can never find an award ticket when I need it. It is best to stick with cash rewards, or other points programs on credit cards that can be redeemed for gift cards.
