Free stocks, options and future trades from E-Trade

As part of customer appreciation day, E-Trade is offering free stocks, options and future trades on Wed, Dec 19, 2007. This offer may be good for people who are existing customers and want to trade such securities. However, unless a customer is buying and selling securities on the same day, the customer will end up paying the commissions on the sell transaction later on.

If a person is planning to open a new brokerage account, the better option may be to look at brokerages which offer free trades such as Bank of America (provided of course, you meet certain restrictions) and Zecco which provides 10 free trades every month.
