On a combined salary of $86,000, the couple has managed to save $100,000 in 401(k), $50,000 in IRA and $7,000 in emergency fund. The secret to their savings include maintaining a tight budge, prolonging the life of their belongings, and automatic contributions to the 401(k) plan.
